Eight-time world boxing champion, actor, singer and Philippine senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao formally launched his PAC token yesterday, October 11.

The coin was presented at the upcoming Blockchain Fair Asia 2018 to be held in Manila, Philippines, October 11-12 this year.

Pacquiao entered the world cryptocurrency first as an investor in the Blockchain Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX) firm. GCOX, in turn, was the one that allowed Pacquiao to create its own token.

How Celebrities and the Public Benefit

GCOX will allow other celebrities to launch their tokens. These coins can be used by people to purchase goods and services related to the celebrity’s GCOX platform.

The well-known Celebrity Tokens can also be used to support the works and defenses of public figures, such as charities and fundraisers. The star would have to be immensely popular to have a successful and sustainable currency, as is the case of Pacquiao, who is a world-famous boxing champion.

GCOX CEO Jeffrey Lin shares that view:

“We are proud to have Manny Pacquiao as the first international celebrity in our exchange. Manny and other celebrities will also have the opportunity for greater engagement with their fans, further broadening their reach and expanding their popularity.”

Cryptovest says event organizers boast that the PAC token launch will be one of the largest and star-studded blockchain conferences in the Philippines, bringing together leaders from the global cryptography community.
